General Information

Mainstreamed

Mainstreamed is when the child attends classes with hearing children with (usually) the aid of an interpreter, note taker, and any other support services that may be needed. This can be for the entire school day or for core subjects like Math, Reading, or Social Studies.

A student can become mainstreamed once the ARD committee decides the student’s ability to handle the educational material with or without modifications. Mainstreaming can happen as early as Pre-K..
