U.S. Patent and Trademark Office -- This page is the starting point for the USPTO's  searchable full text, abstracts, and bibliographic patent & trademark databases.  The patent database covers the period from 1 January 1976 to the most recent weekly issue date (usually each Tuesday) and may be found at http://patft.uspto.gov/.  The trademark database may be found at http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=tess&state=jh342v.1.1.  The agency homepage Also includes other information on the patent/trademark process and the agency.

Google Patent Search Engine - the site allows users to search the approximately seven million U.S. patents by parameters including date, issue date, patent number and inventor. At present the system does not include patents that have been granted in the last few months. Nor does it include patent applications that have not yet been accepted or rejected.
