This group of students were learning how to issue receipts for ordering products from a warehouse. The typing class needed to pass a typing test 460 words per 10 minutes. They were also practicing on spread sheets and Excel.

We interviewed an Australian one-year exchange senior high school student on the differences he noticed between Australian and Japanese students. He answered that it was not rare to Japanese students staying until 8 or 9 p.m. at school working on school projects.  “The Japanese coursework is more hands-on oriented”   he observed.

At our round table and discussion, the principal Mr. Jiro Watanabe was asked what kind of discipline problems were most common at the school. He replied that cleaning was not being taught at home anymore. The school was having to teach this habit and that it was necessary to draw the line between home/school roles.
