The Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park

A nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing scientific literacy by fostering an understanding of the Chihuahuan Desert.  The park is located on Jornada Road, six miles north of Hwy. 70.  The office is located in the Downtown Mall in Las Cruces.  There staff includes:

The Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute

The Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute (CDRI) is a non-profit organization that conducts research, gives educational opportunities, promotes and provides different types of media for the Chihuahuan Desert.  This institute’s mission is “to promote public awareness, appreciation, and concern for the natural diversity of the Chihuahuan Desert through research and education programs.”

Jornada Experimental Range

            The Jornada Experimental Range does research on desert ecology and agriculture.  It is one of the most studied areas in the world, in terms of deserts and the most researched areas of desert environment.  The website give information about elements of current research, project plans, and current/past data.
