Gaia is self constructing, self renewing, and self adapting self aware, and even social ( how often have we heard the expression “One with Nature?” So too is education. Constructivism should be the guiding principle for this unit. This unit should approach students with the following in mind:
1. Posing problems or
questions.
2. Solicit a hypothesis.
3. Making observations.
4. Testing the hypothesis.
5. Constructing.
As teachers, you will recognize these steps
of the “Scientific Method” as key in science education, but, you must also
consider the social, political, and economic implications of doing science.
