Purposes:

  • To practice note-taking.
  • To accustom students to self-management of an ongoing assignment.
  • To introduce students to serious, adult-level discussion on diverse themes.
  • To encourage students to use existing University electronic media resources.

Your assignment: Each week pick any one of the indicated programs below, broadcast on the UTEP FM radio station (88.5 MHz), and write a detailed listener report.  Your report should cover at least 30 minutes of listening, and must list very specific information on what items were covered, plus a paragraph with your own scholarly response to what you heard.

Reports must be at least two good paragraphs long, must be computer-printed, and must be turned in each week on Monday at the beginning of class.

Reports may be only on one of the programs shown below (your choice). All reports must indicate the day and times (from/to) when you listened to the program, the title of the program, and all the main contents of the program.

This assignment is worth 10% of your semester grade, and will be graded on completeness and quality.
