Breianna C. Russell
For starters, I am far from the average young American woman and I do not pretend to be so. I grew up in several different parts of this country and though El Paso is my birthplace I have yet to determine where I should declare to be my "Home." I also must say that since I have become well traveled within the United States, it has taken adverse effects on friendships, relationships, etc. However, I must credit these moves to my slightly more advanced maturity level.
I was born on September 10th, 1990, here for the last 10 good ones from the 1900's. My parents both undereducated always struggled financially, and while we always had what we needed, my brother and sister and I that is, my parents were always stressed. We moved a lot as a family and for that reason it was hard for either me or my siblings to make/keep good friends. Eventually, while we were located in Maine, quite far from El Paso, my parents stress levels had reached an all time high, and soon thereafter they were divorced. Now I don't have to tell you that it is hard on children when their parents separate.
After the divorce, my charming mother and my pulchritudinous step-father Robert "Red" moved to Texas and my father, myself, and my siblings remained in Maine. Myself, my little sister, my brother, and my father all struggling to stay afloat. Maine is far different from Texas, it is cold and snowy most of the year and the summers are not so much hot as they are humid, while in Texas, summer consists of much of the year and the heat is dry. So you can see we were quite out of our element. Nevertheless, we made it work, eventually moving back to El Paso where my father remarried and about the same time I began Middle school. My step-mother and I did not fair well together, we argued about little things and eventually I felt I needed to leave.
So on I went to live with my mother and her new husband. From there I started high school and got my first job. But the small wave of semi-good luck only lasted a couple years before I was sucked back into El Paso to Finish high school. My last year of which was a struggle, only because of all the moving I had done and the fact that curriculums change from state to state, school to school, even city to city. I was way ahead in some classes and somewhat behind in others. I completed everything though and on time thankfully, so now I have begun a new journey, College Life, so that hopefully someday I will be able to sit down, relax, and enjoy the life that I have so struggled to make.
