Your three-voice Fugue should be complete. It must include the following:
  • First Entry Group
    • Subject in the tonic key in the first voice
    • Answer in the dominant key in the second voice, along with countersubject in the first voice
    • Bridge to prepare for the entrance of the third voice in the tonic key
    • Subject in the tonic key in the third voice, along with countersubject (also in the tonic) in the second voice; first voice can have either a second countersubject or free counterpoint
  • Episode
    • Typically less contrapuntal than the entry group
    • May or may not contain any material from the subject or countersubject
    • Should not include the complete subject
    • Acts as a transition to prepare for Second Entry Group in a closely-related key
  • Second Entry Group (in a closely-related key, all three voices can sound during entire entry group)
    • Subject
    • Answer with countersubject
    • Bridge
    • Subject
  • Episode
    • Acts as a retransition to prepare for the Third Entry Group in the tonic key
  • Third Entry Group (in the tonic key, all three voices can sound during entire entry group)
    • Subject
    • Answer with countersubject
    • Bridge
    • Subject
  • Coda
    • In the tonic key
    • May contain the subject or countersubject in various forms (augmentation, diminution, stretto, inversion, retrograde, etc.)
    • Ends with a PAC
This project is due at noon on Wednesday of Week 14.
