Project 1: Hexagonal bolt sketch
Review date: Wednesday, February 4, 2009
Due date: Monday, February 9, 2009
In this project you will construct a fully constrained sketch of a hexagonal bolt, as shown below
Work with the partner as assigned by the TA. A list of the groups is availible on WebCT.
- Sketch, by hand, at least two ways of constraining the geometry. Have these sketches ready for the Review Date!.
- Using NX, construct a sketch of the hexagonal bolt cross section. It must be fully constrained and capture the following "design intent"
- be centered on the axis of the sketch plane,
- have the hole centered on the hexagon, and
- be fully defined by one dimension across the flats, H, and the diametric dimension of the center hole, D.
- Test your sketch by using the following dimensions
H=0.125 | D=0.062 |
H=5.0 | D=1.0 |
H=5.0 | D=8.0 |
- Save your .prt file with the fully constrainted sketch and upload this to WebCT. Only one individual needs to upload the file in the group.
