About
Welcome! My name is Joshua Nicolas Ramirez, aspiring graphic designer and storyteller! Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, U.S.A. I have my colorful cast of friends and family to thank for the person you are reading about today. It was my love of media, from literature to advertising to video games, that convinced me to pursue design as a career choice.
From a young age, I was enraptured by the visual arts and storytelling. As a consumer of these mediums daily, especially advertisements, I grew up producing amateur artwork. I sought to produce my own professional works, so I took to Graphic design as I consider it the ideal union between art and technology. Ergo, I pursued a double major at the University of Texas at El Paso, both an Art BFA with a Concentration in Graphic Design alongside a BA in Digital Media Production.
Despite my innate desire to express complex artistry with my computer cursor flying and clicking across the screen, I often begin with drawings in a sketchbook. Eventually, I transfer my ideas from the page to the screen and work until I produce a satisfactory logo or design. Before, after and during the creation process, I constantly engage with the client or instructor to ensure I do not stray far into overzealous territory.
Outside of academics, I volunteer at various institutes. I really believe in the strength of close interpersonal relationships. However, my free time is dedicated to writing, drawing and helping my family. My pet turtles are always around to keep me company.
I am always ready to tackle a graphic design challenge. I see each project as a puzzle in need of solving. I am willing to restart progress whenever possible to provide the best display of skill. I look forward to showcasing my knowledge and creativity for you.
