Being able to think critically and understanding the dialectic
takes the blinders off!.
Things become lots clearer when we realize that everything always has at least two sides, that nothing ever stays the same, that the world is real and doesn't become the way we want it just because we want it that way.
The monsters in the closet (or in Washington or Baghdad or at work) stop looking so terrifying when we understand that changing things is not only possible, but within our realistic grasp.
