The Five-Part ISARC Format for Opinion Pieces

1.

Introduction

2.

Statement

3.

Antithesis

4.

Refutation

5.

Conclusion

How to use the ISARC format:

The Statement is where you explain and prove your standpoint.

The Antithesis is a clear statement of your opponent's best arguments, stated in a way that even they cannot disagree.

The Refutation is where you put down your opponents' best arguments (that you just gave) one by one, and prove they are wrong.

Caution: Refutation is not about YOU, it is all about your OPPONENTS and their arguments (and why they are wrong).
