Revision
is not the same as just checking for grammar,
punctuation and spelling errors! When you do a
revision
of your writing, it means that you need to
completely
re-vision
what you are trying to say.
This requires you
to think about it all over again, and then change it
to make it read exactly how you want it to read, in
a way that will serve your audience well.
No real-world writer,
no matter how expert, writes something,
immediately turns it in and expects it to be good.
Not even the best professional writer can do that.
Usually the best
method for revising your writing is to let it sit
overnight and then then come back to it. Then
READ IT OUT LOUD! Move around sentences, paragraphs,
and words, change phrases and vocabulary, and make
sure it comes out sounding as educated as you are!
Question: (click on the right
answer):
In order to properly revise your work you
should :
Look it over again and again until you find the
errors. If you do that you are sure to
discover what is wrong with the text.
Write it at least two days before the due date,
so you can leave it overnight and then fix it
the following day before it is due.
Write it out on the computer and then turn it in immediately so
you don't forget the subject and so it
doesn't get "stale."
Run the spell-check program on what you wrote,
and then turn it in. You can't afford to waste
time fooling with the text!
