Progymnasma 6: Confirmation. Defend a story.

Click on the link above for Progymnasma 6 and follow the BYU website directions for the format of the assignment. However, instead of an ancient legend please choose any well-known ancient or modern story about your theme (in all cases, be sure to cite the source of the story you are defending!).  See the example in Kennedy 103-5. 

Directions:

1. Praise the teller of the story, and suggest why he/she made up or wrote down this story. 
2. Give a summary of the story itself. 
3. Confirm the story as being:
  *manifest and obvious
  *probable and likely 
  *possible (could have happened in the real world) 
  *logical and reasonable
  *fitting and right, and
  *profitable.
