About You
  • The objectives of this paper are:
    • to introduce yourself to your professor
    • to provide a sample of your ability to format and write correct English on the university level
    • and to demonstrate that you can follow instructions.
  • In Microsoft Word, open a New Document.
  • On the first line, type type your name and UTEP student ID number (Enter), MUSL 1324 Leinberger (Enter), and date (Enter and Enter), single spaced
  • Select the lines you just typed and click the "Align Text Right" button or press "Ctrl+R."
  • Double space the body of the paper. If you need help formatting paragraphs, email Dr. Leinberger at CHARLESL@UTEP.EDU.
  • First paragraph: Introduce yourself in terms of where you are from, what degree plan you are pursuing, and your current classification (freshman, sophomore, etc.) and what you expect to do upon graduation.
  • Second paragraph: Describe your musical taste; be specific in categorizing the music you like the most (rock, country, jazz, Tejano, classical, etc.). Mention live concerts that you especially enjoyed. Mention any musical background - band, orchestra, choir, rock band, or dance. Write about your favorite musician(s) and musical work (singer/song, orchestra/piece, etc.).
  • Third paragraph: Discuss what you expect to learn in Music Appreciation this semester. How do you expect your listening habits to change in sixteen weeks?
  • One to two pages, at least 250 words.
Formatting:
  • Times New Roman font
  • Single space your name and class information
  • Double space body of paper
  • One-inch margins
  • Run spell check (F7). Keep in mind that some proper names may not be in the spelling dictionary!
  • Change paragraphs when you change subjects.
