After reading Chapters 1 and 2, use FinaleŽ music notation software to compose 3 melodies:
  • An eight-measure melody using a step progression.
  • An eight-measure melody that includes a compound line
  • An eight-measure melody that includes 4-3, 6-5 and 7-8 scale degree movement.
It is suggested that each melody consist of two four-measure phrases. All melodies must be in 4/4 meter and include no rhythmic value smaller than an eighth note. At least one melody must be in treble clef. At least one melody must be in bass clef. At least one melody must be in a minor key and use either harmonic minor, melodic minor or both.
