Dr. Moncada is a parallel
computing specialist. He earned his Ph.D. in
Computational Science from UTEP-US in May
2018. He also holds a BS in Physics from
UNMSM-Peru and MS in Applied Mathematics from
UNM-US. He worked for two years (Jan 2019 to
Jan 2021) as a postdoctoral research associate
at Los Alamos National Laboratory on the E3SM
ECP project. He is currently working as a
research scientist at the Computer
Science in the University of Texas at El
Paso on the GAMESS ECP project.
His research interests are in software
development for scientific computing
applications, parallel computing, performance
modeling and analysis, and performance
optimization. He is also a fellow of the
Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics
(SIAM) Parallel Processing for Scientific
Computing, and the Association for Computing
Machinery (ACM) Transactions on Parallel
Computing
Dr. Moncada enjoys practicing outdoor and
indoor activities. He practiced kickboxing and
jiu-jitsu at the UFG gym in El Paso. The
practices of these self-defense sports are for
fun and keeping a healthy body. He also enjoys
hiking with his two mixed bread dogs Babka and
Honeybear.
