 Here are some dos and don'ts for all computers

  • Do backup frequently
  • To point to something on the screen you do not have to acctually touch the screen! and
  • Never use a pen!!
  • Keep your password and account to yourself, don't share accounts
  • The computers are for academic work only
  • Please be considerate of those working around you
  • Do not keep your stuff at a terminal when you are not there, the machines are for all to use. No squaters rights!

    • Here are some dos and don'ts for the Linux machines

  • Do not run jobs for more than 30mins without putting them in background
  • Do not tie up a terminal by staying logged in just to keep a job running (run it in background)
  • Ask someone how to run background if you don't know how to
  • If you are running a job for a long time set the priority > 19 (you can do this in top)
