What will the judges want to know?

judges

Presenting to a judge can be a little nerve-racking. But, have no fear! Below is a list of what the judges are looking for, so you can be prepared.

First of all, be sure to introduce yourself and thank the judge for volunteering his/her time.

Your backboard should be neat and organized, and include all the components.

Explain your title, purpose, and procedure. Remember to speak clearly and slowly and don't read everything off your backboard. You should know your material well enough to talk about it without reading it. If necessary, write inprotant information on index cards.

Explain how you collected data and point out your graphs, charts, or log.

Explain the conclusion you came to as a result of your experiment. Tell how this is meaningful to you and how it may help you in everyday life. If something didn't work out, explain what you would do differently.

Use any new vocabulary that you learned. Know your stuff! Make sure you can explain your procedure using the right words.

List the sources you used to help you and ask if the judge has any questions or if you left anything out.
