My love for Elvis began when I was fourteen years old when we first got cable and I saw my first Elvis movie. It was Love Me Tender. That same year, on my birthday, I forced my mother to buy me a ring that looked like one that Elvis wore; the one with a diamond horseshoe. I got the ring but they weren't real diamonds. I wore it for a long time. I fell in love with his face more than his voice. I'm cheap so most of the videos I have of Elvis I have recorded. I get excited during August and January because they are the anniversarys of his death and birth and they usually have Elvis marathons on cable. I have posters, postcards, tee-shirts, watches and clocks with Elvis' face on them. I even have an Elvis doll that is wearing the famous black leather outfit from his " '68 Comeback Special". I have not bought any of those items. My family and friends have given them to me over the years for my birthday or Christmas or just when they remember me. I'm hoping to visit Graceland one day to see how tacky Elvis really was.
