This set of posters was created for fictitious exhibitions displaying Psychedelic Posters of the 1960s and work from Push Pin Studios at the El Paso Museum of Art.
For this poster I was looking at a lot of Victor Moscoso’s work in particular the lettering and color used in much of his work. I used a slab serif font and altered it to create a sort of wrap around my image much like his work. The image is one of a local pachuco I had taken some shots of for this assignment. Through the use of photoshop I was able to create a halftone effect to apply on top of a harsh stencil of his photograph to give the poster a sense of silkscreen application much like what would have been used in the 1960’s.
This poster was Inspired by James McMullans “Head out to Oz” poster, however changing color and subjects to resemble local history and scenery. Pancho Villa stands holding a chihuahua on a leash. In the backdrop the colors of this poster are meant to represent our signature El Paso sunsets.
